Buryat State Academy of Agriculture (BSAA) offers an academic program for Summer school in forestry which is held annually for the BSAA and international students. The program combines an intensive Russian language course, classes on sustainable forestry in Baikal region as well as a diverse cultural program.
One of the most fascinating ecosystems on the Earth – the forest – is the focal point of our summer school. As a renewable natural resource, wood has bright prospects, as well as other bioresources have. During the school students will learn not only about Siberian forests as a resource for timber production but also about non-timber forest products which include foods such as wild mushrooms, nuts and berries, medicinal herbs, and a wide range of other products. Besides forests are both perfect and at the same time vulnerable resources for recreation, such as tourism.
This program will be organized both in the fields and in the city of Ulan-Ude, the capital of the Republic of Buryatia situated on the banks of two rivers the Uda and the Selenga, that flow into Lake Baikal, the UNESCO Natural Heritage Site. Buryatia is located on the crossroads of European and Asian cultures. You will gain the experience of learning another culture, rich biodiversity and different lifestyle.
You will have the opportunity to visit the center of Buddhism in Russia, nature and art museums, Lake Baikal and make new friends. We will offer you Intensive Russian language course based on the method of activization of the reserved capacity of the person. We promise you will have a lot of fun while here.
